Contact managers such as Act and Goldmine are stand-alone applications. The only data exchange that is available between your contact manager and DBA is the ability to import or export customers into either program.
Usually your initial import of customers comes from your accounting system, not your contact manager, because the records in the accounting system are actual customers, whereas those in the contact manager also include prospects. So it is unlikely that you will mass import all your contact manager accounts into DBA, but you can do so if you wish.
On an ongoing basis, contact manager prospects become customers and will be added to DBA for order entry purposes. You have the option of importing new customer records via spreadsheet. Unless there is a high volume of new customers, however, you may find that it is easier to manually enter each new customer record. Other than address and contact details, the rest of the information in the DBA customer record is unique to DBA (customer type, terms code, price level, discount code, tax code, etc.) and must be entered manually whether you import the customer or not. .
