There is no payroll requirement with DBA because it includes its own job labor tracking system that has no physical connection with payroll. You are therefore free to continue using your existing payroll system.
If you are not satisfied with your payroll system and wish to make a change, you can purchase a stand-alone payroll package (such as CheckMark Payroll, which our company has used in the past) or you can use a payroll service (such as PayChex or ADP).
Entering payroll totals in the General LedgerAfter each payroll run, you must update the General Ledger to reflect your payroll expenses. This is done by making a batch journal entry in DBA consisting of a single summary total for each payroll account. The transactional detail is not needed in DBA and remains in your payroll system for audit trail purposes. Payroll should be paid out of its own bank account so that bank account reconciliation is separate from your DBA bank account(s).
