Custom Manufacturing

How does DBA handle customized items made to order?

In light manufacturing systems, custom items made from scratch or copied from other items require part numbers and component specifications. Process instructions must be furnished manually by spreadsheets or other means. Build components often must be modified out on the shop floor and must be changed to avoid inventory errors. Job costing is incomplete and multiple bi-product or disassembly outputs must be manually received to stock.

By contrast, in DBA one-off items are automatically generated within quotes from model BOMs or from scratch. One-off BOMs can be modified as needed. A cost rollup can be used to help establish the price and the quote is converted to a sales order for job generation. The job traveler provides complete processing details. Job details can be changed as needed during the job and multiple outputs can be received to stock. Job costing reflects all costs, including labor and overhead.
